SAILING AROUND THE WORLD WITH SPIRIT OF ARGO

Bahamas, Exumas, Lee Stocking Island – Climbing the highest peak in the Exumas

Everyone thinks the Bahamas are all about sea and sand, but my humans were out to show Roy there is a lot more than that to be found on a holiday here.  They dragged him off on a jungle bash to seek out the highest peak in the Exumas.

Now regular readers will remember that my humans are not the best at finding and following trails.  They have gotten themselves very lost many times in the past.

What have I signed up to here?

I hope Roy knows what he has gotten himself into.  I was beginning to lose faith in them as guides when they made a water stop right beside a poison wood tree (similar to poison ivy).

Not a tree you want to lean against.

But when Honeymoon Beach came into view in the distance I knew we were on the right trail.

Just a little way to go

Getting to the palm fringed Honeymoon Beach was a cooling break.

Now this is what I live for, a run on the beach

Roy was sent in search of water nuts (green coconuts).

From the beach the trail made a steep accent of the hill side giving us great views out over the shallow waters of the Exuma Bank.

Then we finally made it to the top.

It may not be the highest peak in the world, but in the Bahamian heat, it was well worth the climb

Then it was time for the hike back.

Then it was back to the boat.

You would think it was time to relax after that big hike, but no.  The boys were off again, as it was slack water (no tidal current running), for a snorkel on a different reef this time.

No lazing about here!
