The human’s and I sailed south, away from White and Saline Island, and towards the rarely visited Isle de Ronde
Very few people ever stop at the Isle of Ronde because the Chris Doyle’s Cruising Guide lists it as a very rolly anchorage. He does add that it is a shame because the snorkeling is very good.
Never one to follow the crowd, we sailed off to see for ourselves
Grenada
We had a very smooth sail across the channel towards Diamond Island with Isle de Ronde just behind it. The big island in the distance is Grenada. We anchored up just off the beach on the north-west corner of the island without another soul in sight!
Grenada
I do not think I can put into words how beautifully clear the water is here
We did not find the anchorage rolly, but then this was very settled weather.
The crystal clear water was perfect for snorkeling and the bay is surrounded by a healthy reef and lots of fish life.
The crystal clear water also attracted a large collection of bird life, probably your only company on this anchorage, who used its clarity to dive for fish.
Difficult to photograph birds
Besides the usual birds we saw quiet a few large white pelicans. Up to now we had only seen the smaller brown ones. They were very shy and I never got close enough to capture a good picture of them.
All their diving antics will keep you totally entertained.
The birds roosted on the cliffs surrounding the beach or on the neighbouring rocky islands.
